The restaurant. Where do I begin? The food was breath taking in terms of its concept, taste and presentation (we chose the chef's 7 course menu). The originality of the dishes (created by the chef) helped make this a meal to remember. They were all classical French in spirit but with a good helping of Asian influence. I have eaten at many Michelin 3* restaurants in France and I have to say that only Ducasse in Monaco and Troisgros in Roanne have been better than here, and not by very much. . The chef has only been in residence since February - he worked at some of Paris' better restaurants prior to coming here - but he is clearly determined to make a mark and gain multiple stars. He'll certainly achieve that if he continues to cook like this. The front of house staff were friendly (!) and knowledgeable. Service was exemplary. My friend had never been to a serious gourmet restaurant before but the waiters went out of their way to make him feel at ease. At the end of the meal the chef appeared and visited the tables. This is usual at gastronomic restaurants BUT what was different here was that he was modest, friendly and happy to chat about the dishes, what was good, and what could be improved (very little, to be fair) despite the fact that I am English! The menu cost 145 euros, but once you've added a cheese plate, coffee, mineral water etc. nearer 200 euros - well worth it. The staff were superb - friendly, helpful and pro-active. One lady at reception gave up an hour of her time to help me report an unfortunate theft that occurred on the Autoroute - she even telephoned 4 different police stations and gendarmeries to make sure that they would have an English speaking officer available when I went. They upgraded one of our rooms without charging extra (!) as the room originally booked had been on a high floor and one of our Basset Hounds is very old and struggles with stairs.

Escape from the stressful cities to a charming French village? This was the gem I was looking for. No buzzing cars, no background noise—just the soothing sounds of nature. At night, an owl chatters from its perch in the tree, and in the morning, you're greeted by dragonflies zooming by. From the first look at the property, everything shows great attention to detail, from the tasteful vintage decorations to the immaculate cleanliness (inside the rooms, it's a 10/10; outside, it’s a bit more lived-in, which adds character and avoids the sterile feel of a designer hotel). There are plenty of spots to sit and relax, including a swimming lane, a larger pool, a spacious spa that can be reserved privately, and a roomy terrace, all just a short walk away. It has very romantic vibes but is also perfect for those who want to disconnect and read or write a book. After touring the room and the grounds of the hotel, another delightful surprise awaited. The restaurant offers a fine dining experience with an expertly crafted 7-course discovery menu called "Emotions," beautifully paired with their selection of wines. The dedication of Chef Maxime Lesobre and Chef Saé Haségawa to their craft was palpable in every course served. Having read the outdated Michelin Guide review afterwards, I felt it didn’t do justice to the symphony of flavors they managed to unleash. As for value for money, there’s no question—it exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend the experience, go for it. Finally, a special mention goes to the spa, which offers a genuine spa experience with a well-rounded selection of treatments and massages. It reflects the same dedication to quality and cozy atmosphere as the rest of the property. My only regret is not having had more time to fully indulge in everything they offer.

Our stay at Château de Courban was absolutely wonderful! The location is stunning, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and serene landscapes. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The room was spacious, elegant, and well-maintained, with view over outdoor swimming pool. The breakfast at Château de Courban was fantastic! A perfect blend of quality and variety, with fresh pastries, delicious local cheeses, and an excellent selection of fruits and jams. We enjoyed very much on site made delicious apple cake. The setting was charming and peaceful, making it a delightful way to start the day. A truly memorable experience!

Helpful staff on arrival, easy to park, large room (we were up a lot of stairs and there is no lift so bear that in mind when choosing your room, we knew we were in for a work out!). There are 2 pools and nice areas to relax around them. No bar as such but you can order drinks to the pool and other areas. We ate at the restaurant which was amazing despite having had a changeover of chef not too long ago. Simply stunning food and it was so nice to have the appetisers in the courtyard with a drink before we went in for dinner. Nothing to do in the village but we had a walk around it and it is pretty. This is a place to relax and enjoy your surroundings and eat.

Delightful place - Great as a stopping point if you're en route to Italy or a road trip that way. It's a terrific reward if you leave Mont Blanc and are heading back to the UK - You can reach the place for a 3pm check in and enjoy the spa and book dinner in a glorious restaurant with fine wines and the very best cheeses the region has to offer (And no, British cheese doesn't come close to French cheese, nor does the cuisine or the respect for food in general, despite the noble efforts). Leaves you with a 4 hour drive to Calais, albeit with a huge smile and gratification that you've had the very best of cuisine
